RELIGION : The most disasterous word in today's world . It is so powerful that it has the capacity to transform a decent person into a TERRORIST . Every alternate day we hear news of riots taking place between people of different religions . 
           We say that India is a "secular nation" i.e we do not have any official religion . But if  we give a second thought to that statement are we really secular ? Are there no differences in the minds of the people belonging to a particular religion regarding people of some other religion? 
          Of course India is a diverse and colourful nation . There are in all more than 100 religions practiced all over India . Each state is known for a different one . Religion in our country is given so much importance that people don't even stay back in sacrificing the lives of innocent animals and in the worst cases of people too just for the sake of religious practices which are given that level of importance  which the really don't deserve . Isn't this doing too INHUMAN on the part of we HUMANS .  
          In each and every  place in India we find the so called "sadhus and babas" giving irrational solutions for simple life problems . People are advised to do different kinds of havans and poojas , they are given different kinds of rings , chains and pendants to wear . People , blinded by the religion believe in all such blind faiths and are looted by the sadhus and babas . It is surprising to see that even the people who call themselves MODERN and EDUCATED also fall prey to such malpractices . 
           Let's take  a simple example . Those people sitting near the banks of the rivers and in the temples tell us to do poojas in our house so that we get prosperity . Before believing them we must just look at THEIR condition . They themselves don't have a proper livelihood . If by doing havans and sacrifices we get prosperity, then why don't those people do it themselves first . 
            The thing is that we don't think in a scientific way . We just follow the religion which we CONSIDER or ARE TOLD is created by God whom none of us has ever seen . 
             The real religion to be followed is HUMANITY . Instead of offering litres and litres of milk to a stone which we call as Shivling we can offer it to some poor child who needs that milk more than the Shivling . Instead of giving lakhs of rupees to the temples donate it in some orphanage . Instead of offering flowers to idols let them be on the plants . They will enhance the beauty of our nature . Instead of taking bath in the rivers for purifying oneself and polluting the rivers , purify our minds of evil thoughts . The real God lies in our hearts and not in any idol . 
             As excess of anything leads to destruction. In the same way following religion blindly without any rational base leads to destruction of humanity .
